On April 22, 2022, Tina Forrester, activity director at Life Care Center of La Center, Kentucky, closed out her 30 years of service at the facility with a retirement party.
Associates and residents joined Tina for a tie-dye brunch with tie-dye balloons, plates and other decorations.
“It was perfect for me,” Tina said. “That’s my style.”
The day before, on April 21, Tina and the department heads had a lunch together at the restaurant of her choice. True to her fun-loving spirit, she chose Chuck E. Cheese.
“It was a great experience,” said Tina. “I used to take the residents there.”
Tina started her career at Life Care in the dietary department and then served part time in dietary and part time in activities and social services. Eventually activities and social services became separate roles, and Tina stuck with activities.
“I liked planning the activities, especially the special events and parties,” Tina remembered. “I enjoyed finding something new for them to do. Activities are something other than getting dressed, getting your medicine, getting your therapy treatments – they take you somewhere else for a while.”
Some of Tina’s favorite activities over the years have included Summer Olympics and a squirt gun game in which residents were able to squirt associates.
Even though Tina has retired, she hopes to stop by from time to time to visit and volunteer with activities.
